Production 2017

Production Information

The annual production is always the highlight of the dance school year and an amazing opportunity for all concerned.
On this page we endeavour to provide you with as much information, as it comes to hand, so our families are well informed.
Please take your time to read attached information sheets and make note of important dates.

Production After Party

Saturday 8th July at Clearview School Hall 10:00am - 12:00pm please bring a plate to share. This is a lovely way for the dancers to celebrate their performance and have a nice end of term get together.  All dancers and their families welcome.

The Selwyn School of Dance annual production for 2017 is "Coppelia".

Ticket Info & How to purchase your tickets.

Our tickets are now on sale for this year's production of Coppelia, performances are at 1:30pm and 6:30pm on Saturday 24th June, at Middleton Grange School Theatre. Tickets are available through The selwyn school of Dance.

As with last year we have made every effort to reduce our ticket costs, which is why we have decided to do the ticketing ourselves this year.  And as a result of this this means that tickets need to be purchased directly from the Selwyn school of Dance Studio or you can email us at info@selwynschoolofdance.co.nz to book your tickets. If there are tickets still available around show time there will be door sales on the day for those last minute purchases.

If you have volunteered to help out backstage this year, please take the time to read the rosters that were emailed out, to ensure that you purchase tickets to the correct show for you.

FAQ's

Over the years we have been asked quite a lot of different questions as we approach our annual production so we have put together a list of our Most Frequently Asked Questions covering everything from makeup, pick up/drop off, hair style, shoes etc. Please take the time to read this document and it can be downloaded by clicking on the following link.

Volunteers/Back Stage Help

We couldn’t put on a successful show without the wonderful help and support of all of our volunteers both leading up to the show and on the day.

As in previous years we are design and make most of our costumes ourselves, as you can imagine it is a pretty big task as everything is constructed to a professional level.
So many of you are wonderful enough to volunteer to help with fabric cutting, hand sewing and machine sewing. We welcome any help you are willing to give – if you are not confident with a sewing machine, there are still so many other tasks that need attention.  If you would like to assist please contact us by email:  admin@selwynschoolofdance.co.nz

On the Day we really do appreciate the support Back Stage, again the show couldn't go on without the adults supervising and dressing our dancers. We have created an information leaflet about the role of the Back Stage Helper and if you would like to assist us or be part of this exciting time with the children (for one performance only) please let us know.

Photography & Video

As in previous years we have engaged Tony Stewart, (a professional photographer), to come and take performance and individual photos.  The performance will also be professionally videoed.

The photos will be available for purchase within a few weeks of the performance, (you will receive details on how to place your order once the photographer has advised the school that the photos are ready to be viewed online).  The DVD’s will be available to order through the school once classes resume.

We do not allow the audience to photograph, video or use flash photography during the performance as it can be distracting and dangerous for our dancers.

Programs

Programs will be available for purchase on the day and are a wonderful memento for the dancers to enjoy and keep.

Sponsorship and Fundraising

We would not be able to produce such an amazing, high quality performance every year without the help of fundraising and sponsorship.  We are now looking for sponsorship through advertising in the program.  We are looking for people who can talk to local businesses to ask for their support.  Please let Justine Ward (justine.ward@hotmail.co.nz) know if you are able to help with this.

Thank You
Thank you for letting your children participate in our annual production.  It’s a fun and exciting opportunity for all involved, which creates wonderful memories that will be cherished in the years to come.
